I need your help with the caption though...
Your two options are:
Why the LDS Church doesn't allow traditional wedding marches in their Chapels
or
What happens when you let a woman officiate in a man's position
Either way, I say.... ROCK ON!!
Love that video.
ReplyDeleteI think they don't allow traditional marches b/c they're trying to shame the couple and make the wedding as lame as possible as punishment for not getting married in the temple. It discourages further disobedience.
barf
That's a slightly different take from the one I was going to take on it, but I think you may be right on the money. I'm not sure exactly how to articulate what I was thinking, but it's along the lines of a subtle way of the Church imposing it dominance on the couple right from the beginning - I've got a blog post in the works on my other blog (kodathink.blogspot.com) that has to do with that - probably in the next week or 2.
ReplyDeleteI grew up in South Africa, where civil ceremonies are required prior to a temple sealing, and even back when I was 100% committed to the Church, I was really uncomfortable at how the civil ceremonies were performed - especially when many who attended were not members and didn't understand the whole temple aspect to it.
It should be a day to celebrate new love, and the couple themselves.
I think this couple nailed it!
